Scholarship Description:
The Klaus-Jürgen Bathe Leadership Scholarships are awarded on an annual basis to selected UCT undergraduate students with demonstrated leadership potential, for the purposes of financially supporting the scholars as they continue with their chosen degree programmes at UCT, at the same time developing their leadership potential through additional Programme activites, to better prepare them for eventually taking up significant leadership roles in South Africa or other African countries.

Eligibility:
The Klaus-Jürgen Bathe Leadership Programme is open to all undergraduate students enrolled in any of the six Faculties of UCT. Students can apply in their first year of study, or after completing first year. However, there must be at least two years of the degree programme remaining at the time of award. The scholarship cannot be held for a period less than two years. Postgraduate students are not eligible. While it is expected that the majority of scholars will be citizens of South Africa, candidates from other sub-Saharan African countries are also welcome to apply. However, a condition for non-South African candidates is that they must demonstrate a commitment to remain in South Africa and serve the country for at least 10 years after their studies. They must also commit to serving their own countries.

 Selection Criteria & Process
Selection will be made from students who demonstrate potential to be the leaders of tomorrow in various sectors of the economies of their respective countries in Africa, and who show promise to make a significant impact in business, government, industry and civil society of South Africa or other African countries. Students will be selected for this Programme on the basis of academic merit, demonstrated leadership potential, willingness to serve the public and the community, and commitment to the goals of the Programme. Financial need will also be taken into account (all applicants are required to provide information about family income on the application form), but it will not be an overriding factor. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to an interview, and will be required to speak on a topic of global relevance as part of the selection process. They will be required to demonstrate why they are deserving of the scholarship, and to explain how they see themselves playing a leadership role in their country or on the African continent in the future

Scholarship Value:
The scholarship offers full financial support to the value of R120,000-00 per year, intended to cover tuition fees, accommodation, meals and an allowance for books, stationery and transport. The scholarship will also entitle the recipient to a 6-week internship in the USA, Germany or South Africa, the costs of which will be met by the Programme.

FAEA Undergraduate Scholarship For Indian Students

Scholarship Description:
The objective of Scholarship Program of FAEA is to secure social justice for students belonging to socially and economically disadvantaged sections of the society. It emphasizes equality of opportunity to help students become what they would like to be so that they have a choice and are not dictated by economic and social necessity. It enables economically and socially disadvantaged students to study in the institutions, which provide academic excellence, access to structures of power and economic opportunity. For this the Program will provide bursaries, scholarships and fellowships to these students for their study. It will also supplement this with creation of an institutional framework in which concerns for the disadvantaged are addressed.

Eligibility:
Applicants should be an Indian and a permanent resident of India.
Should have passed Class XII examination from a recognized Indian Board.
The final selection will, however, be subject to the student securing certain minimum scores in Class XII examinations and interview results.

Scholarship Duration:
Scholarship Program will provide support to the students selected for up to three years in the first instance. This can be extended for another two years for postgraduate study depending upon the student's performance in the graduate exams as well as availability of funds.

Scholarship Value:
The grant for individual student will be determined by FAEA to ensure compliance with budgetary guidelines. Final amounts will be based entirely on the discretion of the Program and may cover full or partial cost of the proposed study plans.
The program will assist selected candidates in making all logistical arrangement related to travel and insurance.
Selected candidates will be responsible for informing FAEA office in New Delhi of any other grant, scholarship, bursary or financial aid they have received for their study program.
Grant amounts may be re-negotiated on the basis of this information. Failure to report additional financial support can constitute grounds for revocation of the award.

As an International Global Challenges Scholar, you will take part in a development programme designed to enhance your social entrepreneurship skills through design, problem-solving, co-operative work, thorough research and critical thinking.

You will work in groups to develop social entrepreneurship models with the assistance of mentors who will help you to turn your ideas into action. You will learn by working with issues within your own communities, where you have the power to create global change and positive impact.

Eligibility:
To be eligible for a Global Challenges Scholarship as an international student, you must:

• Be eligible to enrol in an undergraduate degree at Lincoln
• Have completed secondary school in the past five years, achieved well academically and not attended another tertiary institution in New Zealand (if you have completed a diploma, undergraduate or postgraduate degree at other international institutions, you are not eligible for this scholarship)
• Have a strong academic background that demonstrates your ability to undertake and complete a university degree while maintaining involvement in scholarship activities
• Have a very good grasp of English, with an overall score of 6 in IELTS (or similar qualification), as the scholarship development programme has a strong focus on communication and co-operative work.
